Floyd Mayweather Jr. would ‘get murdered in the UFC’, says Dana White

Mainstream interviews with MMA personalities always mean two things: Questions we’ve heard before and questions everyone should already know the answer to. This one falls under the latter category.

Arsenio Hall asked UFC president Dana White on his show Monday night how Floyd Mayweather Jr. would do in the UFC. Obviously, Mayweather is the best pound-for-pound boxer in this galaxy. But, last time we checked, MMA is a completely different sport.

How would Mayweather do in the NBA, Arsenio? Or how about in the luge at the Sochi Olympics? Those are comparable questions.

Of course, White answered exactly in the way you’d expect him to.

“He’d get murdered in the UFC,” White said of Mayweather. “You go to a knife fight with a guy and the other guy has guns and chains and crowbars. There’s so many more weapons in the UFC then there are in boxing. So it makes no sense.”

No sense. None. Kind of like that question. To White’s credit, he did chide his own fighters for saying they could crossover and succeed in boxing, calling it “disrespect.”

“Guys always talk about this crossover stuff,” White said. “My guys think they can go over and box. Floyd thinking he can come over here to the UFC.”

We saw what happened when James Toney tried to fight in the UFC. And we expect we’ll find out the same thing about MMA fighters boxing if Anderson Silva ever faces Roy Jones Jr.

Remember how well Michael Jordan did at baseball?
