Be Judged for Your Work Ethic if Not Your Talent

Be Judged for Your Work Ethic if Not Your Talent

This Motivational Quote comes from another athlete who once stood at the top of their sport. New York Yankees Shortstop Derek Jeter has been an inspiration to a lot of athletes ever since he got drafted in 1992 straight out of high school.

Derek Jeter of the New York Yankees has been competing at a high level for 21-plus season due to his work ethic and dedication to his sport.

For 21-plus years, Jeter has been the definition of hard-work in Major League Baseball, especially as he began to hit the later stages of his career. Therefore, at his age, this week’s quote should be taken to those in any sport at anything point of their career.

“There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.” – Derek Jeter

For those starting off in any sport, whether it is in the gym or on the field, it is hard work and dedication to the practice that will get you where you want to go. For those that have been around for a while, this mindset will keep you at the top of your game for as long as your body can handle the physical demand.

Everyone needs to take this quote to heart. It applies to everyone in every field. Just think about this next time you see someone with more ability than you. Be the one that outworks them on the court or in the weight room next time you see them. Let them judge you on your work ethic if it is not your talent.
